Dr. Thomas Fountaine of the University of Rochester Medical Center Wilmot Cancer Institute Joins The Assistance Fund’s Medical Advisory Board
Hematologist/oncologist adds clinical and research expertise to advisory group that ensures patient assistance programs reflect clinician and patient needs
ORLANDO, Fla., Nov 12, 2018 — The Assistance Fund, an independent charitable patient assistance foundation that helps patients and families facing high medical out-of-pocket costs, today announced Dr. Thomas Fountaine, Hematologist/Oncologist at the University of Rochester Medical Center Wilmot Cancer Institute, has joined The Assistance Fund’s Medical Advisory Board. Dr. Fountaine serves as an Assistant Professor in Medical Oncology within the Division of Blood and Marrow Transplantation and Medical Director of Stem Cell Processing.

Dr. Fountaine’s research aims to utilize leading-edge technology and genomic tools to accelerate the discovery of novel therapeutic strategies. His research focuses on the translational study of resistant and refractory hematologic diseases and bone marrow failure syndromes, with a particular interest in leukemia, genomics and immunotherapy. He has authored and co-authored a number of papers and book chapters and serves as a peer reviewer for a number of medical journals.

Dr. Fountaine holds professional memberships with the American Society of Hematology, The American Society of Blood and Marrow Transplantation and The American Society of Clinical Oncology. He received his medical degree from Pennsylvania State University, completed his residency at the University of Rochester Medical Center and completed Fellowship training in hematology/oncology at Johns Hopkins Hospital and the National Institutes of Health/National Cancer Institute.
