Eligible Patients Living with Gastric Cancer May Now Receive Financial Support from The Assistance Fund
ORLANDO, Fla., November 19, 2018 — Today, The Assistance Fund, an independent charitable patient assistance foundation that helps patients and families facing high medical out-of-pocket costs, announced the opening of a new copay assistance program for individuals living with Gastric Cancer. The Gastric Cancer Copay Assistance Program provides financial support for medication copayments.
“Given the difficulties in detecting Gastric Cancer early, many patients may not know they have it until it has progressed to a later stage and must be urgently treated,” said Mark P. McGreevy, President and CEO, The Assistance Fund. “Our new Gastric Cancer Copay Assistance Program provides support for eligible individuals living with all stages of Gastric Cancer so that they can afford the medications they need.”
Gastric Cancer is caused by uncontrolled cell growth in the lining of the stomach. Sometimes the initial symptoms of Gastric Cancer are hard to detect, making it hard to diagnose.1 In 2015 there were an estimated 97,000 people living with Gastric Cancer in the United States.2 Treatment options typically depend on the stage of cancer and if it has spread to other parts of the body. Some treatment options include surgery, radiation, chemotherapy and targeted therapies.3
