The Assistance Fund Opens New Program for Thyroid Cancer

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

Copay Assistance From The Assistance Fund Now Available for Eligible People Living With Thyroid Cancer

ORLANDO, Fla., January 17, 2022 —The Assistance Fund, an independent charitable patient assistance organization that helps patients and families facing high medical out-of-pocket costs, today announced the launch of a new copay assistance program for people living with thyroid cancer. The program is designed to help eligible individuals pay for their out-of-pocket medical expenses related to the thyroid cancer, such as copays, deductibles, and coinsurance.

Found in the neck, the thyroid produces the body’s hormones for regulating heart rate, body temperature, and more. There are four main types of thyroid cancer: anaplastic, follicular, medullary, and papillary. Thyroid cancer can be difficult to diagnose. Symptoms, including changes to the voice, neck pain, and difficulty swallowing, develop in later stages of the cancer.¹ More than 40,000 people are diagnosed with thyroid cancer each year.²

“Nothing is more stressful than hearing ‘you have cancer,’” said Mark P. McGreevy, President and CEO of The Assistance Fund. “But with the launch of our Thyroid Cancer Copay Assistance Program, patients can focus on managing their disease and recovery instead of the financial burden of cancer treatment.”
